Explanation Of Differences

Fixed Front Wheel

This is arguably the biggest difference between the MG1 Zip X1 and the MGI Zip X3. The Zip X1 has a fixed front wheel, whereas the Zip X3 has a swiveling front wheel with the option to lock it in a fixed position.

The net result is that the Zip X3 should be a bit easier to maneuver around the golf course and the golf club. When you need to take tight corners, you can put the front wheel into swivel mode. Conversely, when you are out on the course with long stretches of fairway, you might find the fixed setting helps keep the unit moving straight rather than deviating left and right.

Color Options

The Zip X3 is available in Titanium Grey and Black. The Zip X1 is only available in Titanium Grey.

All Terrain Tread Rear Wheels

This is another big difference between the Zip X1 and the Zip X3. The X1 has standard wheels with what can only be called a ‘slick’ tread pattern. This is fine for fairways, greens and tee boxes, but it won’t offer that much grip when cruising through more testing terrain.

Conversely, the tread pattern of the Zip X3 will give you more grip and stability when moving over thick rough, mud, sand, and wet grass.

Resettable Odometers

If you opt for the Zip X3, you will be glad to know that it includes resettable odometers. This allows you to track the distance that you have walked using one odometer, and it also allows you to track the length of your drives and iron shots using the other odometer. Naturally, you will have to reset the second odometer after each drive if you use it for this purpose. That’s why it is so helpful to have two.

Displays Distance On The Golf Caddy

Another benefit of the odometer technology built into the Zip X3 is that this information is displayed on the control panel of the electric cart. Both units display speed and battery settings. Only the X3 displays distance data.

Price

The last important difference when comparing MGI Zip X1 vx X3 is price. Right now, the Zip X3 is about $200-$250 more expensive than the Zip X1. While there are definitely enough extra features to justify the higher price, the Zip X1 represents better value for money, given how many similarities these electric golf buggies share.

Also, it’s worth noting that if the rear wheels on the Zip X1 do wear out after a couple of years, it is pretty easy to order replacement wheels from MGI’s website
