Best Arm Lock Putters – Buyer’s Guide – 2022 Edition

Best Arm Lock Putters

The truth is, if you’re looking at Arm Lock putters, you probably have a small (or large) case of the yips. When you step up to a short putt, fear courses through your body, even during casual rounds with your best mates. Where most people view a 3 footer as a tap in, you feel a deep sense of anxiety every time you’re left with anything longer than shoe length.

It’s okay. Losing your confidence on the greens has happened to some of the best players that have ever lived. The great Ben Hogan became so bad in his later years, he started arguing for putting to be removed from the sport. Ernie Els is another prime example of a golfing genius turned into an average performer primarily because he lost the ability to sink short putts consistently.

Thankfully, Arm Lock Putters can be a Godsend for golfers that need a reliable putting stroke that can withstand the internal pressure that dominates their mind every time they step up to a short putt. They’re also good for long putts, but it’s the stability and face control they provide on shorter putts that really separates them from normal putters. This is why Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson have switched to arm lock putting.

Now let’s take a detailed look at all the Best Arm Lock Putters currently available.

Descending Loft Technology™ is our patented putter face technology. We have four flat surfaces that are milled into our putter face. Each plane descends in loft by 1° from the top of the face to the bottom of the face. When your shaft is pressed at impact the ball contact will be higher on the face, same is true in reverse. DLT delivers consistent launch angles from putt to putt which lead to more consistent and predictable rolls.

Final Thoughts

We have outlined all the best arm lock putters currently available.

Now it’s up to you to decide if you are willing to commit to the arm lock putting style. If you are, you might want to check out this tutorial on how to use an armlock putter

As a final note, if you aren’t quite sure if arm lock putting is for you, ask yourself the following question.

Do you feel confident over 3 foot putts?

If the answer to that is no, Arm Lock putting could be the antidote you need. Committing to this particular putting technique can save professional golf careers (Webb Simpson is a prime example). There are also plenty of amateur golfers that have made the switch, while quietly acknowledge that it almost feels like cheating. That’s how big a difference arm lock putters can make in amateur players with unstable putting strokes.

With that being said, there is no guarantee that Arm Lock putting will be the perfect cure for you. The only way to truly find out is to give it a shot. If you’re ready to do it, good luck, and may the golfing gods be with you.

Tour Pros that Use an Arm Lock Putter

Please note – Xander Schauffele used an arm lock putter for a short period of time, but he has since switched back to a standard-length putter.

Will the Arm Lock Putting Method Get Banned?

Rules of Golf For Putting Specifically

There are a number of Pros that have called for the armlock putting method to be banned, because they feel it is an anchored stroke. This view is shared by Rory Mcilroy and Billy Horschel.

However, if you read through USGA rule 14-1b, it’s pretty clear that the real issue is the establishment of an anchor point, rather than the act of anchoring. This is why the Belly Putter has been eliminated from the game of golf, while broomstick putters still remain. You can hold a long putter and an arm lock grip, without creating an anchor point (a fixed pivot point on the body).

Based on how simple this rule actually is, arm lock putting is unlikely to be banned any time soon. The USGA have made their stance very clear, regardless of what players like Rory Mcilroy and Billy Horschel happen to think.
